Scope
Construction of 512m long dam across river Krishna in Srisailam

Srisailam Dam, constructed across Krishna river, lies in a deep gorge in the Nallamala hill range. Its elevation is about 300m and it is about 512m long. Located in Kurnool District, the dam is one of the twelve largest hydroelectric projects in the country with 12 radial crest gates. Srisailam Dam provides irrigation water for about 800 km(310 sq mi) in Kurnool District and Cuddapah District. It has a live storage of 250 thousand million cubic feet (TMC). This reservoir was originally designed for hydropower generation and was later converted to a multi-purpose facility for water supply and irrigation. The left bank hydro electric station generates 900MW of power and right bank generates 770MW of power.
