Visakhapatnam district is one of the North-Eastern Coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. The chief rivers draining in the district are Tandava, Varaha, Sarada, Narava, Gambeera gedda, Gosthani, etc. With the levels at the Gosthani river, which normally supplies 3.6 MGD to the city, drying up, wells are being recharged by releasing 100 cusecs for four days twice a month from the Thatipudi reservoir and the irrigation department supplied 15 MGD from Raiwada reservoir -- which is the main source of supply to the city. With this shortage of water supply every summer to the city of visakhapatnam, the State Government and AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation planned the implementation of "Godavari Water Project".
The Godavari Drinking Water Project to Visakhapatnam City has demonstrated SEW’s turnkey ability to deliver multi-location works flawlessly. This positions the company on a sound footing for handling such critical projects for other cities in the Country to address the severe shortage of drinking water.
